Nitin was born and brought up in The Land of Apples and Gods, Kinnaur Valley. It is one of the most beautiful valleys of Himachal Pradesh.
In his early childhood, he spent a lot of time playing and providing a helping hand to his parents and grandparents in the family's apple orchards. Higher education at Delhi University's DCE (now DTU) and IIM Indore led to corporate stints at AIG and Accenture. These jobs made him see the world, but deep inside, he always wanted to move back to his apple orchards.
In 2019, while reading an article about the latest advancements and natural practices in apple farming, he realized that the yield of his orchard was just 20% of what could be achieved. That's when he started working closely with his brother and dad to introduce modern practices of apple farming. They started working on all elements of growing and harvesting apples via 100% natural and organic apple farming, i.e. Soil Management, Nutrition Management, Water Management, and Growth Management.
Cut to the present (2022). They have increased the production of delicious apples in the orchards 3 fold!
During this time, Nitin's mother, Meena Negi was running a women's self-help group (SHG) with women from their village, and producing nutritious apple products like jams and pickles for the local market.
That's when the idea of Kinnaur Harvest was born: a homegrown space that will be managed by Vijay Tara Self Help Group, while Nitin and the rest of his family members will work on integrating everything.
Meet Vijay Tara Self help Group
Nitin's Mom runs a women's self-help group named Vijay Tara.
All women of SHG are the operational backbone of "Kinnaur Harvest." They manage their apple orchards around the village, and every product on Kinnaur Harvest is sourced from these family-owned farms. That is why we guarantee 100% natural, organically-grown, and soulfully-harvested apples.
